Sevenoaks Fund launched With £225,000 fundraising already pledged!
At the end of 2016 Sevenoaks Town Council agreed to launch an ambitious project named the Sevenoaks Fund with the aim of fundraising £1m in a year for four local charities.
Sevenoaks Town Council has committed £450,000 and £173,000 in kind to the four community projects.
The Sevenoaks Fund is a bespoke crowdfunding website with the aim of investing the local pound into local community facilities. The bespoke website avoids fees and difficult conditions that such a large fundraising target would have via commercial sites.
Unfortunately the related financial regulations, legal and technical aspects have been far more challenging to address for this pilot project than had originally been envisaged and there are still a few tweaks to be made in presentation.
During the past few months Sevenoaks Town Council has continued to work with the charities helping to develop their aspirations for example working on planning applications for a 3G Rugby Pitch at Knole Paddock, 3G Pitch at Greatness Recreation Ground and a new facility for Sevenoaks Day Nursery.
We are very excited to launch the initial Sevenoaks Fund and hope that the community will support it. The very good news is that in the time we have been developing the Sevenoaks Fund, the Sevenoaks Town Football Club has almost reached its fundraising target and last night (8th May 2017) Sevenoaks Town Council agreed to place the order for the 3G Football Pitch to enable it to be available for the 2017 season.
Paul Lansdale Chairman of the Sevenoaks Town Football Club said: “Thank you to Sevenoaks Town Council so much for your support, the Town Councils investment will make a significant difference to our Club and the local community.”
